Hello! — I’m Isabella, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

As a Computational Social Scientist, I am committed to building an equitable and sustainable future of work. My research explores AI's impact on work, workers, and organizational talent practices, with a human-centered approach that emphasizes human-AI complementarities. My key research interests include automation and augmentation dynamics, skilling and reskilling, labor inequalities, and sustainable skills. Using computational methods, network science, and statistical techniques, I create insights to empower individual workers and entire workforces.

Abstract

This project aims to understand the widespread effects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the economy and workforce. Similarly to previous General Purpose Technologies (GPTs), AI is forcing the reallocation of resources, including human capital. We explore how sectors, workers, and capital leveraging AI tend to complement innovation, yielding positive spillover effects, while those in competition experience negative spillover effects. Anticipating these effects poses a challenge,  thus, we propose a framework to identify human capabilities that synergize with AI. Leveraging large language models, we empirically evaluate these attributes within the American workforce, providing insights for targeted re-skilling and up-skilling.
